Senior Software Engineer – HashiCorp Terraform Stacks Join IBM as a Senior Software Engineer on the HashiCorp Terraform Stacks team. You will contribute to HashiCorp’s offerings to automate and secure multi‑cloud and hybrid environments, managing the lifecycle of infrastructure and security to improve efficiency, security, and scalability for enterprises. About the team The Terraform Runtime team owns “Stacks”, which extend infrastructure as code to a higher layer using Terraform shared modules. Stacks help users optimize coordination, deployment, and management of interdependent Terraform configurations across environments. The Terraform Authorship group drives both community and commercial value, aiming for Terraform to remain the best tool for managing infrastructure. About the role We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our team. The majority of our libraries are written in Go and are open source. You will review, fix, design, prototype and implement features and tools while ensuring stability and usability, and collaborate across teams in a remote‑first, autonomous environment. In this role you can expect to Develop, advocate for, and support new and existing features. Write RFCs discussing customer problems and potential solutions. Engage open source contributors and promote healthy community engagement. Represent end users in influencing priorities and technical decisions. Participate in cross‑team working groups. Enable teammates through code reviews, pairing, and technical contributions. Work with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize new features. Participate in an on‑call rotation. Preferred education Bachelor’s Degree Required technical and professional expertise Professional experience developing with Go. Experience with API development. Interest in learning Terraform and its internals. Experience working in an open source software development environment. Enjoyment of a fully remote, fast‑moving team culture. Strong written communication skills and ability to use code review to unblock peers. 4+ years of professional software engineering experience. Preferred technical and professional experience Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible.
