Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with night shifts and float pool responsibilities, requiring a GA or compact RN license and at least two years of Med/Tele RN experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in hospital med/surg telemetry units with each unit housing 20-36 beds
• Cares for a variety of inpatient med/surg and telemetry patients
• RN patient ratios typically range from 1:4-6
• Works 12-hour night shifts from 7PM to 7AM
• Weekend and major holiday shifts are required (must work one listed winter holiday)
• No on-call or call back required
• Float pool role requiring floating to all med/surg and telemetry units as needed
• Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, Pyxis med dispensing, and other unit-specific equipment
• Collaborates with a support team including CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurse, discharge nurse, resource team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Most units perform lab collect phlebotomy; RNs draw blood from CVLs while a PICC team is available
• Central telemetry monitoring is provided for all telemetry patients
• Orientation includes a one-day facility program, self-paced modules, and two departmental training days
• Navy scrubs required for RNs
• Parking is free around the campus with paid parking deck options
• The unit has a busy, team-oriented culture
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active GA or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding
• ACLS certification preferred
• Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, IV starts, glucometer use, and administering common drips such as insulin and heparin
• Prior experience with Epic EMR is required or preferred
